IT was Tee-off time between two of Clonmel's most respected institutions when Raheen House Hotel and Clonmel Golf Club were 'Rumbled' as they formed a new alliance.
In a business to business initiative, Raheen House and the Golf Club joined forces to provide unique offers to both of their clients.
The new pact between the hotel and the club will see hotel residents and golf club guests being able to avail of promotional hotel/golf combination packages.
"We are thrilled to have formed an association with Clonmel Golf Club, recognised as one of the most challenging and scenic courses in Tipperary", said Raheen House owner, Elizabeth Day.
"The agreement between the hotel and Clonmel Golf Club is part of our vision for the future to ensure that we can offer an exclusive experience to everybody at affordable prices," she added, "maybe we can even throw in a 'Sand Wedge' or two," she chortled.
The business arrangement is the second such undertaking that the recently revamped hotel has undertaken, having formed a similar agreement with Hillview Sports and Tennis Club a year ago.
"The hospitality industry is recognised as one where customers are becoming more discerning about where they stay, the demand has increased for a bespoke experience," remarked Ms Day, " being able to offer golf packages, at a first rate course, adds to the overall attractiveness of that experience."
This viewpoint was equally shared by Clonmel Golf Club members who observed that the trend to offer golf/accommodation packages only succeeded if both the course and hotel were both 'on par'.
"Raheen House is now regarded as one of the finest manor houses in Ireland. We anticipate that this move will generate more golfers , from outside Tipperary, coming to our course and the hotel. As a sports club we are delighted to play a part in giving an economic boost to Clonmel", stated a Golf Club spokesperson.
Head of Marketing at Raheen House, Ms Maria O'Brien said that the merger secured Raheen House Hotel's position as the number one exclusive venue in Tipperary, in addition to providing a stimulus for both the hotel and the golf club.
Rising popularity of the hotel in the last twelve months has led to the expansion of the hotel car park to include an additional 25 spaces.
